How to get there: to get to Spartaia take a small tarmac road off the Procchio - Marciana Marina main road, then a footpath that runs to the beach.
A small jewel when glimpsed from the main road to Marciana Marina, Spartaia is a small cove that opens onto the bigger Procchio gulf. The beach, surrounded by the greenery of Mediterranean vegetation, is of fine white sand which blends into the sea with shades of turquoise and emerald. Its name comes from Sparto (esparto grass), a herbaceous plant that colonises the dunes and margins of the sandy beach. Only part of the beach is free to use, the largest part is the private beach of the hotel and restaurant.
